Limerick Send Waterford Crashing out of the U21’s Hurling
Waterford 1-7 Limerick 2-17
Limerick under 21 hurlers managed by Ciaran Carey defeated a fancied Waterford Under 21 Hurling side by 13 points at Walsh Park last night, a week of turmoil in Waterford it seems with their seniors beaten well at the Gaelic Grounds last Sunday by a resurgent Clare Team. To add to Waterford‘s woes Justin Mcarthy resigned last night.
Ciaran Carey’s good luck seems to have continued into this season from last season where he successfully managed the Limerick Senior Camogie team to win two trophies, the All Ireland Gala B Division and a National League and promotion to the top flight ensued.
Waterford had previously beaten Limerick at this level for the past two seasons. Limerick had Nicky Quaid in goals son of the legendary and the late Tommy Quaid Limerick Goalie ,five players from the Limerick Senior Team were involved .Seamus Hickey was in excellent form in the defence, Richie McCarthy and Graeme Mulcahy scored early goals as Limerick led at half time by 2-6 to 0-4.
Eoin Ryan Kilmallock score nine points on the night to seal victory and set up a titanic clash with old rivals Tipperary in the semi- final .
