Adare Hosts the Irish Open Golf ,Sports News


Irish Open Adare Festival:Thurs May 15 to Sunday May 18.

Adare by the river Maigue will host next weekends  eagerly anticipated Irish Open for its second year.Last years tournament was a major success with 60,000 golf fans visting the Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort.It had a global audience watching the tournament of more than 120 million viewed in over 30 countries.Sky Sports will provide coverage of the four day event with highlights on RTE.The village and businesses of Adare will play host to a wide variety of traditional and cultural events such as Traditional Irish Music, Live Music in the local pubs, French Market & Guided Castle Tours to name but a few.

This years tournament worth €2.5 million  in prizes will include seven members of the European Ryder Cup winning team from that epic win in the KClub in Kildare.Ireland’s own and Irish Open Champion from last year Padraig Harrington will defend his title in the company of his Ryder Cup teamates Lee Westwood ,DarrenClarke,Colin Montgomerie,Paul McGinley,David Howell and Robert Karlsson.

Daily Tickets will be reduced from €25 to € 20 for the Irish Open ,Season Ticket prices reduced from €75 to €60 .Under 16 accompanied by an Adult will be admitted free  throughout the 4 days of the tournament.

Ladies Gaelic Football:

In last weekends Suzuki National  Ladies Football Division 3 Final  Limerick lost to Cavan 1-5 to 1-9 .Croom had two representatives on the team Kate Galvin and Margaret Lynch.

Venue Bruff: Bruree v Croom Saturday May 10 at 7.15 pm.

Limerick’s Live 95fm Senior Hurling Championship:

Croom reached the final last year only to lose to near neighbours Adare.Croom are managed this year by Jim Fawl,Selectors are Mike O Riordan,Gary Shanahan.Captain will be Mickey Cahill .

Golf: A very sucessful Golf Classic was held last Friday .Winners of the competition were Raymond Twomey,Stevie Twomey ,Liam Lenihan and Kevin Glesson.
