Macra National Talent Final 2008

The Macra National Talent Final, one of the major events on the Macra calendar, will take place, for the second time, in the University of Limerick, Concert Hall on Sunday 4th May at 6.30 pm. The Macra National talent competition is now one of the biggest and best established amateur talent competitions in the country. The 12 Counties represented in the finals are, Cork in 6 events, Meath in 5 events, Laois in 4 events, Tipperary in 3 events, Clare, Cavan, Waterford, Kildare and Limerick in 2 events, and Carlow, Sligo and Galway in 1 event. The Macra National Talent Competition comprises eight entirely separate events covering the entertainment disciplines of Disco Dancing, Solo Instrumental Music, Novelty act, solo singing, mastermind, set dancing, comedy, and Pop / Folk / Ballad Group. Each of the eight events is a competition in its own right with eight separate winners at each stage of the competition; there is no overall winner. The very best of luck to Shannonsiders set dancers and the Ballylanders disco dancers whom compete this Sunday. One hundred and eighty different Macra branches spread across all twenty six counties have appeared in the National Final while eighty two different branches from twenty four counties have won national titles.
