A brief history of the establishment of the Churches of Croom and District is compiled on the Sunday Mass Misselette and covers the seventeenth and eighteenth century. It tells of the Rev. John Cantillon as the registered Parish Priest for Croom, Donoman, Killonahan and Dysart. Fr. Cantillon resided in Anhid now the old cemetery and a small headstone indicates his grave. Fr. Cantillon succeeded Fr. William Leo. Fr. Leo presided during the period of the Maigue poets.
