Memory Lane

It is now sixty two years since the Army vacated the occupancy of Croom house which was taken up during the emergency years of the Second World War.  Many of the soldiers from various parts of the country took residency in Croom during the outbreak of the war.  Some permanently stayed in the Maigueside and settled down and raised their families.  January 1946 senior officers and battalion made their exodus.  The period of the Army has many times been recalled.  The soldiers took an active part in sport and athletics.  Many of the soldiers stationed at that time donned the colours of Croom and brought titles being part of the Croom Teams.
