Maiguesiders play their part in Limerick’s win over Louth

John Galvin(Croom) Goalie Sean Kiely and Adare’s Stephen Lavin.
Limerick made a winning start in their Allianz NFL Division Three over Louth at the Gaelic Grounds today, remarkable that it was played at all considering we had snow on the ground this morning, all the more reason to complement the ground staff and Willie Riordan in their effort to see it going ahead. Limerick were out to make amends for their disappointing McGrath Cup defeat to Clare last weekend in which they lost by a point with a controversial penalty at the end given to the Bannermen.

Stephen Lavin (Adare)

Limerick opened well and were full value for their lead which was 7 points of a lead over a very spirited Louth side at half time 1-7 to 0-3 , John Galvin was solid in midfield,Stephen Kelly’s return to the panel is a positive move and he played very well throughout when introduced on 48 mins. Limerick faltered in the second half as Louth upped the tempo and came within four points of Limerick with five minutes remaining on the clock.2 points from the outstanding centre back Stephen Lavin kept Limerick in front .  Limerick squandered several chances to kill the match off a worry perhaps for Mickey O’ Sullivan for the rest of the campaign. Limerick eventually held out for four point victory over the Wee County.
