It is a tiring and stressful also, one always thinks of the future for the person one looks after, carers own health and well-being is a priority. The Limerick City Branch is one of 50 throughout Ireland,Newcastlewest has a Carers Support Group .A Carer can be a lonely existence so that is why it is important to be a member of a support group ,contact training can be provided ,promotes better support for carers also. It works with the HSE, Soroptimists International Limerick and District, Irish Red Cross Society affiliated to the National Health Promoting Hospitals Network, Care Alliance Ireland, and The European Health Management Association.

“What national channel? I gave up on tv 15 years ago, I haven’t even got a set. In the residential home where I work, we have a giant HD set and the poor old ladies have nothing to watch on it. They are bored senseless, apart from Fair City , they watch the news and even that disappoints cos we’re never mentioned. i take in my laptop and show them youtube videos and they really love seeing local farmers silaging, local fairs and even the stuff teenagers post. Some of them haven’t left the place in 5 years so even a video of the local main street is really appreciated. Time for RTE to decentralise and hand over to the counties, and instead of highy paid proffessionals, local talent. “
When we think of the internet we think it can only be utilised by a younger generation who spend their time surfing the net on Bebo,My Space ,brought up with games so there is a natural progression.
